According to police reports, two boys aged 17 and 16, along with a 13-year-old girl, reportedly approached a vehicle on Blackwood Drive in Hampton Park shortly after midnight. Armed with a knife, they allegedly threatened a 76-year-old man who was driving, demanding he hand over his car keys before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.
Fortunately, no physical harm came to the driver or his passengers—two women aged 51 and 77—during this harrowing encounter.
The stolen car was soon tracked down by authorities in the Dandenong region, where it was abandoned on Heatherton Road. The trio then allegedly entered another vehicle and attempted to escape, prompting a police chase that led them through various suburbs via the Monash Freeway.
Footage from a police helicopter captured the moment when the vehicle finally halted on the Princes Highway in Pakenham. Officers swiftly surrounded the car, leading to the arrest of its occupants.
Now facing serious consequences, the 16-year-old male has been remanded and charged with multiple offenses, including theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, and dangerous driving while being pursued by police. He is scheduled to appear in the Children's Court later today.
