In a surprising move, one of the greatest coaches in college football history is stepping off the gridiron and into the ice rink. Nick Saban, the legendary coach with an unparalleled record, is now a minority owner of the Nashville Predators, with a mission to bring the Stanley Cup to Tennessee.
Saban, who hung up his coaching cleats at the University of Alabama in 2024, is ready for a new challenge. He, along with business partner Joe Agresti, acquired a minority stake in the Predators, as announced on December 16. At 74, Saban's motivation remains the same: to be a part of a winning team and cultivate the habits that lead to success.

The Predators, in their 27th NHL season, have never lifted the Stanley Cup. They've reached the Final once, losing to the Penguins in 2017, and haven't won a playoff series since. Saban's interest in the team sparked after attending a Cup Final game in Nashville, where he also owns businesses.
A controversial interpretation: Some might argue that Saban's success in football doesn't guarantee success in hockey. But Saban believes his expertise in building winning cultures transcends sports. "I'm no hockey expert, but I know success," he said. "I'm here to support the organization and help bring the Cup to Nashville."
