A federal judge has stepped in to prevent the White House from cutting off crucial childcare subsidies to Democratic-led states, sparking a heated debate over the administration's tactics.
In a bold move, Judge Arun Subramanian, nominated by President Biden, ruled that the Trump administration's freeze on federal funding for childcare and other support programs for low-income families was unlawful. The judge's decision temporarily halted the freeze, providing a much-needed reprieve for five states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York.
