Benetti has made headlines by launching not one, but two impressive 220-foot steel superyachts in a remarkably short span of time—less than a month! This exciting development underscores the Italian shipyard's commitment to crafting robust, stylish, and environmentally conscious vessels. These two custom-built yachts mark a significant milestone as they are the inaugural members of the 220-foot B.Now series, featuring cutting-edge hybrid propulsion systems designed to significantly reduce emissions.
"Today's yacht owners seek more than just a vessel; they desire a mindful and genuine way to connect with the ocean," remarked Daniela Petrozzi, the sales director at Benetti, highlighting a growing trend in the maritime industry. "These launches clearly illustrate the shift in market demand towards yachts that offer advanced technological capabilities while minimizing their ecological footprint, all without sacrificing comfort."
Following the launch of the first yacht, named Symmetry, in January, Benetti unveiled its second creation, Dagger, just three weeks later. Both yachts boast a sizable gross tonnage of 1,350 GT and feature striking exteriors designed by the renowned British firm RWD. A standout element of these vessels is the oasis deck located at the rear, which is equipped with an infinity pool and fold-down side wings, allowing for an expansive 270-degree panoramic view.
While the outer appearances of these yachts may share similarities, their interiors tell entirely different stories. The interior design of Symmetry, led by Reymond Langton Design, presents a warm ambiance characterized by soft color schemes, polished metals, and textile art pieces. This high degree of customization is most evident in unique features like a bespoke chandelier crafted from crystal glass, which mimics an "ice effect." In contrast, Dagger's interiors, conceived by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, favor a linear design complemented by natural hues and an array of nine distinct types of wood. Catering to the artistic preferences of the owner, many spaces have been thoughtfully designed as private galleries, complete with specially designed shelves for sculptures and wall recesses for artwork. (It’s worth noting that Benetti has not released any interior images or exterior shots of Symmetry.) Each yacht can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests along with a crew of 17.
In terms of performance, both Symmetry and Dagger are outfitted with powerful Caterpillar C32 Acert diesel engines, enabling them to reach a top speed of 15.5 knots and providing a cruising range of 4,500 nautical miles when traveling at a speed of 12 knots. Their sophisticated propulsion systems include generators and a battery pack, allowing owners to select the most fuel-efficient cruising mode based on their needs. This innovative setup also contributes to a quieter and smoother experience on the water, whether underway or at anchor.
Petrozzi emphasizes, "The true value for contemporary large yacht owners lies in achieving a harmonious balance between the exceptional quality of steel construction and propulsion systems that promote a quieter and more sustainable onboard lifestyle."
